The Song of Lunch – poem by Christopher Reid, direction by Niall MacCormick
Alan Rickman gives an elegant performance as a broken man holding on to the memories of happiness as he dinks himself into a sated state, during a lunch date with a former lover. Internalized anguish becoming more evidentin every passing line, as the realization that it is no longer his reality settles into a loathing for the existence of the memories themselves. Beautifully shot and narrated by the man himself his soothing voice brings with it a calm comfort, alas it is on a much more somber note. Wonderfully introspective and wit-fully sad, a must see for anyone whom is misses the articulate brilliance lacking in modern writing.
